Ridewell RCA-215LM is a low-mount, non-steerable auxiliary axle air suspension for truck applications. It uses air springs to regulate auxiliary axle load and includes manual alignment hardware for setup to recommended standards.

Installation Notes

• Raising non-steerable lift axles is recommended before turning sharp corners to reduce tire scrub and lateral stress.
• Welding or altering suspension components is not permitted without express written permission.
• Suspension can be installed bolt-on using customer-supplied Grade 8 bolts and locknuts; drill eight bolt holes (min 5/8") in each frame hanger and two bolt holes (min 5/8") in each air spring mounting plate.
• Do not apply undercoating/paint/top coat to the suspension, frame hangers, or pivot hardware until axle alignment is completed; mask hanger contact areas if coating is applied prior to assembly.
• Hanger crosschannel should be installed after axle integration; torque locknuts to 45-50 ft-lb.
• Axle integration: center axle between beams and confirm brake component orientation before final welds.
• Before welding, side gaps between axle and axle seats must be no greater than 1/8"; bottom gap at axle seat must be no greater than 1/16".
• Cover mounted air springs to protect from welding spatter during axle welding.
• When lowering an auxiliary axle on an unloaded vehicle, reduce pressure to the load air springs below 10 psi.
• Do not lower the auxiliary axle while the vehicle is moving above 10 mph.
• Re-torque fasteners after the first 6,000 miles of operation.

Maintenance Notes

• Daily/Pre-trip: check tires (inflation/wear), wheel ends for leakage, axle assemblies for damage/loose components, suspension structure for damage/excessive wear, and air controls for proper operation; drain moisture from air reservoirs.
• First 6,000 miles: torque components to specifications; do not re-torque shear-type pivot bolt; verify suspension is operating at designed ride height.
• Every 12,000 miles: inspect air springs for damage/excessive wear; torque components to specifications; check air lines and connections for leaks; lubricate brake cams and slack adjusters.
• First 50,000 miles: torque suspension components to specifications; do not re-torque shear-type pivot bolt; check wheel ends for excessive play.
• Annually/100,000 miles: inspect pivot connections for worn bushings and replace if necessary; torque pivot hardware and component bolts/nuts to specifications; check hanger and air spring mounting plate connections to frame; check wheel-end lubrication level; check air system for leaks; test pressure protection valve (if equipped); inspect brake chambers and brakes for damage and proper function.

• Ridewell warrants suspension systems it manufactures to be free of defects in material and workmanship, provided the suspension has been properly installed, maintained, and operated within rated capacity and recommended application.
• Coverage responsibility is limited to repair/replacement of suspension parts; purchased components are limited to the original warranty provided by the purchased-part manufacturer.
• All work under warranty must have prior written approval from the Ridewell warranty department; Ridewell has sole discretion to approve or deny claims.
• Parts to be returned for evaluation require an RMA and must be shipped prepaid; transportation charges are reimbursed if the claim is approved.
• Warranty is non-transferable and in lieu of other expressed or implied warranties; Ridewell is not liable for special, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages.
